Methyl trimethylsilyl malonate has been prepared from tbutyl methyl malonate by treatment with Trimethylsilyl Trifluoromethanesulfonate, or from Meldrum's acid (2,2-Dimethyl-1,3-dioxane-4,6-dione) and methyl trimethylsilyl ether.
