Hazard Information | Back Directory | [Uses]
Ginsenoside Rg5 is an aromatase inhibitor from Panax ginseng leaves. Also, it ameliorates cisplatin-induced nephrotoxicity in mice through inhibition of inflammation, oxidative stress, and apoptosis. | [Definition]
ChEBI: A natural product found in Panax japonicus var. major. | [in vivo]
Ginsenoside Rg5 inhibits the mRNA expression of COX-2 via suppression of the DNA binding activities of NF-κB p65 in lipopolysaccharides (LPS)-stimulated BV2 microglial cells. Rg5 pretreated group mice show declined expression of NF-κB p65 and COX-2. In the group treated with low dose of Ginsenoside Rg5 (10 mg/kg), there is remarkable tubular damage and infiltration of inflammatory cells. However, at the higher dose of Ginsenoside Rg5 (20 mg/kg), tubules markedly appeare histologically normal and no inflammation and cast formation is observed in kidney tissues[2]. | [target]
