2-Fluoropyridin-4-ol is a fluoronated pyridine that is used in the synthesis of herbicides and horticultural fungicides. | [Synthesis]
The general procedure for the synthesis of 2-fluoropyridin-4-ol from 2-fluoro-4-pyridinylboronic acid was as follows: trifluoromethylhydrazine (0.05 mmol), 2-fluoropyridin-4-boronic acid (0.5 mmol), potassium tert-butoxide (1.0 mmol) and poly(ethylene glycol)-400 (2.0 g) were added to a 25 mL reaction flask. The mixture was stirred at 100°C until the reaction was complete (monitored by TLC). Upon completion of the reaction, the reaction mixture was cooled to room temperature and the solvent was subsequently removed by evaporation under reduced pressure. Finally, the crude product was purified by column chromatography to afford the target compound 2-fluoropyridin-4-ol in 99% yield. | [References]
