Procedure for the synthesis of 3-(benzyloxy)-6-chloropyridazine: 33.92 g (205.5 mmol) of 3,6-dichloropyridazine was dissolved in 100 mL of benzyl alcohol, followed by the addition of 30.06 g (231.0 mmol) of sodium benzyl alcohol. The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 30 minutes. Upon completion of the reaction, the mixture was slowly poured into ice water and the precipitate was collected by filtration and washed with distilled water. The resulting product was dried at 80 °C to give 11.5 g of the target compound in 81% yield of the theoretical value. The Rf value of the product was 0.60 (silica gel plate, unfolding agent was cyclohexane/ethyl acetate = 2:1). The molecular weight of the product was confirmed to be 243/245 [M+Na]+ by EII mass spectrometry. | [References]
