1 g of 7-bromo-2-tetralone (4.5 mmol) was dissolved in 50 mL of MeOH. To the solution was added NaBH₃CN (0.44 g) and NH₄OAc (6 g) at rt. The mixture was stirred at rt overnight. The mixture was concentrated and partitioned between aqueous Na₂CO₃ (100 mL) and DCM (100 mL). The organic layer was dried and evaporated, and the crude product was used in next step reaction without further purification.
