A mixture of 1-hydroxycyclopropanecarboxylic acid (600 mg) and acetic anhydride (2 mL) was heated at reflux for 2 hours.
The reaction mixture was diluted with water (5 mL) and then concentrated under reduced pressure.
The residue was diluted with toluene and then concentrated under reduced pressure to obtain the title compound (796 mg).
1H NMR (300 MHz, CDCl3) δ 1.17-1.36 (2H, m), 1.51-1.70 (2H, m), 2.10 (3H, s), 3.33-6.83 (1H, m).
