48 Synthesis of 5-N-methyl-N-TFA-aminomethyl-2-thiouridine (00901013015-N-Me,N-TFA):
To a stirred solution of compound 139 (70 g, 181 .1 7 mmol) in methanol (700 ml_) was added lithium hydroxide (1 5 g, 625 mmol). It was stirred at room temperature for 1 min. Upon completion of the reaction as monitored by TLC, the reaction mixture was treated with hydrochloric acid (3 N) to adjust to neutral. The reaction mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure resulting in white solid precipitation. The precipitate was filtered giving 31 .2 g compound 1 17 as white solid in 66.2 % yield.
