17 Description 17; 4-Carboxy-1-naphthylboronic acid (D17)
To a stirred solution of D16 (0.25g, 1.25mmole) and NaOH (0.15g, 3.75mmole) in water (5ml) at 0°C was added dropwise a solution of KMnO4 (0.19g. 0.120mmole) in water (5ml).. After 0.25h sodium metabisulphite (excess) was added and the mixture acidified with 6M HCl and extracted with EtOAc (3x 15ml).. The extracts were dried and concentrated to dryness to afford the title compound as cream powder (0.21 g, 78%).
