To a solution of 2-fluoro-4-methylaniline (250 g, 2 mol) and triethylamine (202 g, 2 mol) dissolved in 2 L of dichloromethane, acetyl chloride (156 g, 2 mol) was added slowly and dropwise. The reaction mixture was stirred at 0 °C for 2 h and subsequently washed with dilute hydrochloric acid. The organic phase was dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate and concentrated under reduced pressure to give the crude intermediate N-(2-fluoro-4-methylphenyl)acetamide (334 g, 87% yield).

Steps:
3.1 Step 1: Preparation of N-(2-fluoro-4-methylphenyl)acetamide
Dissolve 2-fluoro-4methyl aniline (125g, 1mol) in dichloromethane (1L), add triethylamine (111g, 1.1mol), cool to internal temperature 0 degrees Celsius in an ice salt bath, slowly add acetic anhydride dropwise (102g, 1mol), after the addition is complete, the reaction solution is transferred to room temperature and the reaction is continued for 3 hours. Add 2L of water to the reaction solution, extract and separate the liquids, add anhydrous sodium sulfate to dry the organic phase and spin-evaporate to dryness to obtain white solid 162g , The yield is 97.0%.
