Step (c) [00240] To a stirred solution of 3,6-dibenzyolated timosaponin A I (100 mg, 0.127 mmol) in anhydrous CH2C12 : MeOH (2: 1, 21 mL) was added dropwise with NaOMe in MeOH (0.1 mL, 1.0 M) at room temperature to form a reaction mixture. After stirring for 3.5 hr, TLC (CH2Cl2:MeOH = 9: 1) indicated that all starting materials had been consumed. The reaction mixture was neutralized with Amberlite IR 120 (H+), filtered and concentrated. The crude product was subjected to column chromatography using CH2Cl2:MeOH (9: 1) to obtain Timosaponin A I (66 mg, yield 90%).
