GENERAL METHODS: Azide-based compounds (1 mmol) were added to an aqueous solution (5 mL) containing freshly prepared Fe(0) nanoparticles (3 mmol) at room temperature and under argon atmosphere. The reaction process was monitored by thin layer chromatography (TLC). Upon completion of the reaction, the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate (3 × 10 mL), ensuring that all Fe-containing material was retained around the stir bar. Subsequently, the solvent in the organic phase was evaporated and the crude product was purified by short column chromatography. The final product was structurally confirmed by infrared spectroscopy (IR), proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H NMR) and carbon nuclear magnetic resonance (13C NMR) data. | [References]
