Under the protection of argon gas, the catalyst (6.8 mg, 0.010 mmol, 2 mol%), magnesium dust (14.5 mg, 0.6 mmol), andP-methylfluorobenzene (55 μl, 0.5 mmol), p-methylchlorobenzyl (80 μl, 0.6 mmol), tetrahydrofuran (1.0 mL) as a solvent, and react at 50 oC for 10 hours, The reaction was terminated with a saturated ammonium chloride solution. The reaction product was extracted with ethyl acetate and purified by column chromatography (with petroleum ether as the developing solvent) with a yield of 92%.
